Hérisson Waterfalls, or Cascades du Hérisson in French, are a series of waterfalls located in the Jura Mountains in eastern France. The waterfalls are formed by the Hérisson River, which flows through a deep and narrow valley, creating a series of stunning cascades and rapids.
The waterfalls are a popular tourist attraction and can be accessed by a hiking trail that runs along the river. The trail offers scenic views of the waterfalls and the surrounding forest, and there are several observation platforms and rest areas along the way.
The most impressive waterfall in the series is the Grande Cascade, which drops 65 meters (213 feet) and is the largest waterfall in the Jura Mountains. Other notable waterfalls include the Cascade de l'Eventail, which drops 35 meters (115 feet) in a fan shape, and the Saut Girard, which drops 20 meters (66 feet) in a single plunge.
The area surrounding the waterfalls is also home to a variety of flora and fauna, including several species of birds, mammals, and insects. The hiking trail passes through forests, meadows, and rocky cliffs, offering visitors a chance to experience the natural beauty of the Jura Mountains.
