Askania-Nova is a biosphere reserve located in the Kherson Oblast of Ukraine, covering an area of around 33,000 hectares. It was established in 1898 by Friedrich Falz-Fein, a German naturalist, as a private nature reserve. In 1919, it was nationalized by the Ukrainian government and later became a scientific research institute.

Askania-Nova is a unique ecosystem with over 500 species of plants, 300 species of birds, and numerous species of mammals, reptiles, and insects. It is home to rare species such as the Przewalski's horse, which was extinct in the wild but has been reintroduced into the reserve.

The reserve includes a botanical garden with over 2,000 species of plants from different parts of the world, as well as a zoo with various animals such as bisons, camels, and zebras. Askania-Nova also offers various educational and research programs, including an ecological camp for children.

The reserve has been recognized as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO and is also listed as an Important Bird Area. It is a popular destination for eco-tourism and nature lovers, offering various activities such as horseback riding, hiking, and bird watching.
