The Universidad Laboral de Gijón is an impressive architectural complex located in the city of Gijón, in the region of Asturias, northern Spain. Built in the 1950s, it was originally intended to be a place where orphans could be trained in a trade and educated in a monastery-like environment. The complex was designed by architect Luis Moya Blanco and its construction took 10 years, being inaugurated in 1956.

The complex consists of several buildings, including an impressive church, a central courtyard, a theater, a swimming pool, a dining hall, and several dormitories. The buildings are characterized by their grandiose and functionalist style, with a clear inspiration from the architecture of Le Corbusier.

The church of the Universidad Laboral is particularly noteworthy, with its impressive size and its modernist design. The building has a capacity for up to 3,500 people and its bell tower is one of the tallest in Spain, standing at 130 meters.

Today, the Universidad Laboral de Gijón is no longer a school, but a cultural center that houses various institutions and organizations, including a theater, a cinema, and an art museum. It is also used as a venue for conferences, concerts, and other cultural events. The complex is a must-see for architecture enthusiasts and those interested in 20th-century history.
