Teide is an active volcano located on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain. It is the highest point in Spain, with a height of 3,718 meters (12,198 feet) above sea level. Teide is part of the Teide National Park, which was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. The park covers an area of 19,000 hectares (47,000 acres) and is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including the Canary Island pine tree, the Teide violet, and the Teide wall lizard. The volcano and its surroundings offer unique landscapes and geological formations, making it a popular tourist destination for hiking, stargazing, and sightseeing. The Teide cable car takes visitors to the top of the volcano, offering panoramic views of the island and the surrounding ocean.
