Teatro alla Scala, commonly known as La Scala, is an opera house in Milan, Italy. It was inaugurated on August 3, 1778 and has since become one of the most renowned opera houses in the world. The theater was designed by architect Giuseppe Piermarini and is located in Piazza della Scala, right in the heart of Milan.
