Cheltenham Badlands is a geological formation located in Caledon, Ontario, Canada. It is a unique landscape of exposed sedimentary rock layers that have been eroded over time, creating a distinct and unusual landscape of barren, rolling hills of red and white clay. The Badlands are believed to have formed 445 million years ago during the Ordovician period when this area was covered by a shallow sea. The red color of the soil is due to the presence of iron oxide, while the white color is a result of the leaching of calcium carbonate from the soil.

The Cheltenham Badlands are part of the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, which stretches from New York State to Wisconsin. The area has been designated as an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest and is owned and managed by the Ontario Heritage Trust. Visitors can hike through the Badlands, and there are several lookout points that offer stunning views of the landscape. However, access to the Badlands is restricted due to its fragile nature, and visitors are required to stay on designated trails to prevent erosion and damage to the landscape.
