Château de Pierrefonds is a medieval castle located in the town of Pierrefonds, in the Oise department of northern France. The castle dates back to the 14th century, but was largely destroyed during the French Revolution. It was later restored in the mid-19th century by Napoleon III, who commissioned the architect Viollet-le-Duc to oversee the restoration.

Today, Château de Pierrefonds is considered one of the most impressive examples of Gothic architecture in France, with its imposing towers, soaring spires, and intricate stonework. Visitors can explore the castle's many rooms and halls, including the grand salon, the guard room, the chapel, and the keep, which offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

One of the most impressive features of Château de Pierrefonds is its collection of period furnishings and decorations, which have been carefully restored to their original glory. Highlights include the elaborate tapestries, the ornate wood carvings, and the intricate ceiling frescoes.

In addition to its historical and architectural significance, Château de Pierrefonds is also known for its connection to popular culture. The castle has been featured in a number of films and TV shows, including the BBC series Merlin and the Disney film The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
