Chateau d'Azay-le-Rideau is a picturesque French Renaissance castle located in the Loire Valley, about 15 miles from Tours. The chateau was built on an island in the Indre River in the early 16th century by Gilles Berthelot, a wealthy financier and tax collector for King Francis I.
