The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière is a stunning Roman Catholic church located on top of Fourvière hill in Lyon, France. The basilica is one of the most famous landmarks in Lyon and is considered to be a masterpiece of 19th-century ecclesiastical architecture.
The basilica was built between 1872 and 1884 in the neo-Byzantine style and designed by the architect Pierre Bossan. The exterior of the building is decorated with intricate mosaics, stained glass windows, and statues of various saints and biblical figures. The interior of the church is equally impressive, with its high ceilings, ornate columns, and beautiful paintings.
The basilica is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and a large statue of the Madonna and Child stands atop the building's dome, visible from many points in the city. The basilica also houses a number of chapels, each dedicated to a different saint or religious figure.
