Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, also known as the Basilica of St. Mary Major, is a Roman Catholic basilica located in Rome, Italy. It is one of the four major basilicas in Rome and is the largest Marian church in the city. The basilica is located on the Esquiline Hill and was founded in the 5th century, though it has undergone several renovations and additions over the years.

The basilica is known for its beautiful artwork and architecture, including its 5th-century mosaics, 13th-century apse mosaic, and 18th-century nave ceiling frescoes by Giuseppe Cesari. The interior of the basilica is also home to several important relics, including a piece of the Holy Crib, believed to be from the manger in which Jesus was born, and a fragment of the True Cross.

One of the most striking features of the basilica is its 75-meter bell tower, which was added in the 14th century and is one of the tallest in Rome. The exterior of the basilica is also notable for its portico, which features a series of ancient Roman columns.
