The Pont Saint-Benezet, also known as the Pont d'Avignon, is a famous medieval bridge located in Avignon, France. It is one of the most recognizable landmarks of the city and is a symbol of Avignon's rich history. The bridge was originally built in the 12th century and was used as a crossing over the Rhône River for several centuries. The bridge was heavily damaged by floods and wars, and it was eventually dismantled in the 16th century. Today, only four of its original 22 arches remain. Despite its ruined state, the Pont Saint-Benezet remains a popular tourist destination and is a must-visit for anyone visiting Avignon. The bridge is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, as part of the “Historic Centre of Avignon”.
