The Pilgrimage Church of Saint John of Nepomuk, also known as the St. John Nepomucene Church, is a Baroque-style church located in Zelená hora (Green Mountain) in the town of Žďár nad Sázavou, in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. The church was built between 1719 and 1722 by the Czech architect Jan Blazej Santini Aichel, who is considered to be one of the most important architects of the Baroque period in the Czech Republic.
The church is a unique and exceptional example of Baroque Gothic architecture, and its design was influenced by the mystical and esoteric ideas of the Freemasons. The central feature of the church is a large octagonal dome, which is supported by eight buttresses and crowned with a lantern. The interior of the church is decorated with a series of frescoes that depict scenes from the life of St. John of Nepomuk, who is the patron saint of Czechoslovakia.
The church has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Czech Republic. It is also a popular tourist attraction, and visitors can climb to the top of the dome to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
