The Arena of Nîmes, also known as the Roman Amphitheater of Nîmes, is a well-preserved Roman amphitheater located in the city of Nîmes, in the South of France. Built around 70-80 AD, the arena was used for gladiatorial games and public spectacles. The amphitheater is one of the best-preserved in the world and is considered one of the finest examples of Roman architecture. With a seating capacity of up to 17,000, it was one of the largest amphitheaters in the Roman Empire. Today, the arena is a popular tourist attraction, with concerts and other events being held there during the summer months. Visitors can also explore the underground passages and tunnels, which were used to bring animals and prisoners into the arena.
