The West Norway Museum of Decorative Art (Vestlandske Kunstindustrimuseum) is a museum in Bergen, Norway, that focuses on the history of decorative art and design in Western Norway. It was established in 1887 and is one of the oldest museums of its kind in Norway.
The museum's collections consist of decorative art, textiles, furniture, and crafts from the Middle Ages to the present day, with a focus on the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum also has a collection of contemporary craft and design.
The main building of the museum is located in a historic building known as The Mansion (Museumsbygningen), which was built in 1793 and originally served as the residence of the wealthy merchant Jørgen Thor Møhlen. The building was purchased by the city of Bergen in 1877, and after extensive renovations, it became the home of the museum.
In addition to the permanent collections, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions and educational programs for children and adults. The museum also has a café and museum shop.
The West Norway Museum of Decorative Art is one of several museums that make up the Bergen Museum of Art & Science, which also includes the Bergen Museum of Natural History, the University Museum of Bergen, and the Maritime Museum.
