The Town Castle in Kremnica is a historic castle located in the town of Kremnica, Slovakia. It was originally built in the 13th century as a part of the town's fortification system. The castle was later rebuilt in the 14th century and again in the 15th century when the town's economic prosperity enabled the construction of a new Gothic castle.
In the 16th century, the castle was expanded and transformed into a Renaissance castle. During this period, it became the residence of the Hungarian King and Queen, who visited the town regularly. The castle continued to serve as the royal residence until the late 17th century, when it was badly damaged by a fire.
The castle was subsequently renovated and partially rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries, but it gradually fell into disrepair. Today, only a few parts of the castle have been preserved, including a section of the original Gothic fortification and a Renaissance-style palace. The castle is open to visitors, who can explore the historical rooms and learn about the castle's rich history. In addition, the castle also hosts various cultural and educational events throughout the year.
