Tipaza is a town located in the northwestern part of Algeria, about 70 km west of the capital Algiers. It is known for its ancient Roman ruins that date back to the 1st century AD, which are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The archaeological site includes a well-preserved theater, a basilica, a forum, and several villas with mosaics. One of the most notable structures in Tipaza is the mausoleum of the royal family, which is a circular building with a dome that was used to bury the kings of the ancient Berber kingdom of Mauretania.

In addition to its Roman ruins, Tipaza is also known for its scenic beauty. It is located on the Mediterranean coast, surrounded by hills and cliffs that offer stunning views of the sea. Visitors can explore the town's beaches, enjoy a meal at one of its many seafood restaurants, or take a boat tour to explore the nearby islands.

Tipaza has a rich history and cultural heritage, and it has been influenced by various civilizations throughout the centuries, including the Phoenicians, Romans, and Arabs. The town is also known for its famous poet, playwright, and philosopher, Malek Bennabi, who was born there in 1905.
