Timna Valley, also known as Timna Park, is a geological and archaeological site located in the southern part of Israel's Arava desert, approximately 25 kilometers north of the city of Eilat. It is one of the most important and unique natural and historical sites in Israel, famous for its stunning red sandstone formations, ancient copper mines, and historical artifacts dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages.

The area is rich in minerals, particularly copper, which was mined here for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians were the first to exploit the copper deposits in Timna, followed by the Edomites, an ancient Arab tribe that ruled over the area around the 12th century BCE. The mining activity continued until the 6th century CE, when the copper mines were abandoned.

Today, Timna Valley is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world who come to explore the fascinating geological formations, hike in the rugged landscape, and learn about the area's rich history and culture. The park covers an area of approximately 60 square kilometers and offers a wide range of activities and attractions, including hiking trails, camel rides, and guided tours of the copper mines and ancient rock drawings.

One of the most iconic features of Timna Valley is the "Solomon's Pillars", a set of towering sandstone columns that rise up to 40 meters high, resembling giant stone needles. The columns were formed by thousands of years of erosion and weathering, and are one of the most photographed sites in Israel.

Other notable attractions in Timna Valley include the ancient copper mines, where visitors can explore the tunnels and shafts that were dug thousands of years ago, and the "Arches", a natural rock formation that resembles a giant arch. There is also a small lake in the park, called "Timna Lake", which offers a refreshing break from the desert heat, and a number of campsites and picnic areas for visitors who want to spend more time in the area.
