Svortuloft Lighthouse is located on the southeastern coast of Iceland, on the Reykjanes Peninsula. It was built in 1907 and has since been an important landmark for ships navigating through the area. The lighthouse stands at 25 meters tall and is made of concrete.
Svortuloft Lighthouse was fully automated in 1961, meaning that there is no longer a need for a lighthouse keeper to maintain the light. The lighthouse has a focal height of 42 meters above sea level and emits a white flash every 10 seconds, which can be seen from up to 22 nautical miles away.
Visitors can hike up to the lighthouse to enjoy the views of the surrounding coastline and to take photos of the distinctive building. The hike is relatively easy and takes around 30-45 minutes each way. The lighthouse is a popular spot for watching the Northern Lights during the winter months.
