The Red Sand Dunes are located in Mui Ne, a coastal town in southeastern Vietnam. The dunes get their name from the reddish-brown color of the sand, which is caused by iron oxide sedimentation. The dunes are a popular tourist destination, and visitors can rent plastic sleds or sandboards to slide down the steep slopes.
The dunes are located about 15 kilometers northeast of the town of Phan Thiet, and can be reached by car or motorbike. They cover an area of several square kilometers, and are formed by the accumulation of sand blown in from the nearby beach. The dunes are particularly beautiful at sunrise or sunset, when the light reflects off the sand and creates a warm, orange glow.
In addition to the Red Sand Dunes, Mui Ne is known for its long, wide beach and strong winds, which make it a popular destination for kite surfing and windsurfing. Visitors can also explore the nearby fishing village, where they can watch the daily catch being brought in and sample fresh seafood at the local restaurants.
