The Perhentian Islands are a group of small islands located off the northeastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia, in the state of Terengganu. The islands are known for their clear waters, sandy beaches, and diverse marine life, making them a popular destination for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts.

The two main islands are Perhentian Besar (Big Perhentian) and Perhentian Kecil (Small Perhentian). Perhentian Besar is the larger of the two islands and is popular with families and couples looking for a more relaxed atmosphere. Perhentian Kecil is smaller and more backpacker-friendly, with a vibrant nightlife and cheaper accommodation options.

Visitors to the Perhentian Islands can enjoy a range of activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and hiking. The waters surrounding the islands are home to a variety of marine life, including colorful coral reefs, sea turtles, and tropical fish.

There are several beaches on both islands, with the most popular being Long Beach on Perhentian Kecil and Teluk Pauh on Perhentian Besar. Visitors can also take a boat tour around the islands, visit nearby fishing villages, or explore the jungle interiors of the islands.

The Perhentian Islands are accessible by ferry from the mainland, with boats departing from Kuala Besut jetty. The islands are open to visitors from March to October, with many accommodation options ranging from basic beach huts to more upscale resorts. However, visitors are advised to check weather conditions and travel advisories before planning a trip to the islands.
