The Orkhon Valley is a historical and cultural region located in central Mongolia. It is home to the Orkhon River, which stretches for over 1,120 km and is one of the longest rivers in Mongolia. The Orkhon Valley was an important cultural center during the 8th to 9th centuries and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The valley is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, including lush green hills, open steppe, and dramatic cliffs. It is also home to several important historical sites, including the ancient city of Karakorum, which was the capital of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. The city was destroyed by invading armies in the 14th century, but many ruins and ancient artifacts remain.

Other important sites in the Orkhon Valley include the Tuvkhun Monastery, which was founded by the Buddhist monk Zanabazar in the 17th century, and the Erdene Zuu Monastery, which was built in the 16th century and is the oldest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia.
