The Moeraki Boulders are large spherical stones that are located on Koekohe Beach in New Zealand. They were formed over millions of years from the buildup of calcium and carbonate in the sediments on the seafloor. These boulders are notable for their perfectly spherical shape and are estimated to be around 60 million years old.
The largest boulder measures up to 3 meters in diameter and weighs several tons. There are around 50 boulders on the beach, some partially buried in the sand, while others are exposed.
The Moeraki Boulders have become a popular tourist attraction in New Zealand due to their unique and unusual appearance. Visitors can access the boulders from a car park on the beach, and there are also guided tours available that provide more information about the formation and history of the boulders.
