Miramare Castle, also known as Castello di Miramare, is a 19th-century castle located on the Gulf of Trieste in northeastern Italy. It was built for Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, who later became Emperor of Mexico, and his wife, Charlotte of Belgium. The castle was designed by Carl Junker, a German architect, and built between 1856 and 1860.

The castle's architecture combines Renaissance and Gothic elements, and it is surrounded by a beautiful park with a variety of trees, including Mediterranean pine, cedar, and bamboo. The interior of the castle is decorated with beautiful frescoes, ornate furniture, and collections of paintings, weapons, and historical objects.

After the assassination of Maximilian in Mexico in 1867, his widow Charlotte spent the rest of her life in seclusion at Miramare Castle. The castle later became a museum and was opened to the public in 1955. Today, visitors can tour the castle and its gardens, and enjoy stunning views of the sea and the city of Trieste from its balconies and terraces. Miramare Castle is a popular tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
