Marseille Cathedral, also known as Cathédrale Sainte-Marie-Majeure or the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in the city of Marseille, France. It is situated in the district of Le Panier and is the seat of the Archdiocese of Marseille.

The cathedral was built between the 12th and 19th centuries and features a mix of architectural styles including Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance. The exterior of the cathedral is made of white stone and features two bell towers and a large dome. The interior of the cathedral is decorated with paintings, sculptures, and stained glass windows.

One of the most notable features of the cathedral is the large Byzantine-style mosaic located in the apse. The mosaic was created in the 19th century and depicts the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ surrounded by angels and saints. Other notable features include the ornate high altar, the large organ, and the Chapel of the Virgin Mary.

The cathedral has played an important role in the history of Marseille. It was originally built as a Romanesque church in the 12th century but was later rebuilt in the Gothic style after it was destroyed by fire. During the French Revolution, the cathedral was used as a storage facility for grain and was later turned into a temple of reason. It was eventually restored to its original purpose as a cathedral in the 19th century.
