Inle Lake is a freshwater lake located in the Shan State of Myanmar. It is the second-largest lake in Myanmar and one of the top tourist attractions in the country. The lake is approximately 22 kilometers long and 11 kilometers wide, and sits at an elevation of 880 meters above sea level.
The lake is famous for its floating villages, where locals build their houses on stilts and live off fishing and agriculture. The Intha people, one of the ethnic groups in Myanmar, live in the villages and have developed a unique way of rowing their boats using their legs. Visitors can take a boat tour of the lake to explore the floating villages and see the Intha fishermen at work.
In addition to its unique culture, Inle Lake is also known for its scenic beauty. Surrounded by mountains and covered with lush vegetation, the lake offers spectacular views at sunrise and sunset. Visitors can also explore the lake's many temples and pagodas, including the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, one of the most revered religious sites in Myanmar.
