Fort Ricasoli is a historic fortress located in the southeastern part of Malta, on the outskirts of the capital city of Valletta. The fort was built by the Knights of St. John in the late 17th century and was originally named Fort Saint Ignatius. It was renamed Fort Ricasoli in honor of the Grand Master who ordered its construction.

The fort played an important role in the defense of Malta during various military conflicts, including the Great Siege of Malta in 1565 and World War II. It was also used as a prison in the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, the fort is open to the public and visitors can explore its many rooms, tunnels, and bastions, as well as enjoy stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.

In recent years, the fort has been used as a location for film and television productions, including the popular TV series Game of Thrones. It is also home to the Malta Film Studios, which offers state-of-the-art facilities for film and television production.
