Erg Chegaga is magnificent sand dune region in the Sahara Desert, located in the southwestern part of Morocco, near the town of M'Hamid El Ghizlane. It is one of the largest and wildest dune fields in Morocco, offering visitors a truly authentic and remote desert experience that is less touristy and more off-the-beaten-path compared to the more popular Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga.

Erg Chegaga is characterized by its towering sand dunes that can reach heights of up to 300 meters (984 feet), creating a vast and dramatic landscape of golden sands, rolling dunes, and expansive desert plains. The dunes of Erg Chegaga are constantly changing and shifting with the wind, creating a dynamic and ever-changing landscape that is a paradise for photographers, nature lovers, and adventurers seeking to explore the untouched beauty of the desert.

One of the highlights of visiting Erg Chegaga is the opportunity to experience the authentic and traditional way of life of the desert nomads and the local Berber communities who have lived in the region for centuries. Many local tour operators offer guided camel treks and desert safaris that allow visitors to explore the dunes, visit remote Berber villages, and learn about the local customs, traditions, and way of life of the desert people.
