The Bonifacio Citadel is a fortified town on the southern tip of the French island of Corsica. It was built in the 9th century and is perched atop limestone cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The citadel is surrounded by a protective wall that includes a number of towers and gates. The narrow streets of the citadel are lined with houses, shops, and restaurants.

The citadel has been occupied by many different cultures over the centuries, including the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians, the Romans, the Moors, and the Genoese. The Genoese ruled Corsica from the 13th to the 18th century and left a lasting mark on the island, including the construction of the Bonifacio Citadel.

Visitors can walk along the ramparts of the citadel for stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the harbor of Bonifacio. Within the citadel walls, the 13th-century St. Dominique Church is one of the major attractions, with its beautiful stained glass windows and ornate altar. Other highlights include the Governor's Palace and the Bastion de l'Etendard, which houses the town museum.
