The Arsenale di Venezia, or the Venetian Arsenal, is a historic shipyard and naval depot located in Venice, Italy. It was founded in 1104 and became one of the largest and most advanced shipyards in Europe during the medieval and Renaissance periods.

The Arsenale was a key source of Venetian power and wealth, as it allowed the city to maintain a powerful navy and control trade routes throughout the Mediterranean. It employed thousands of workers and had its own foundries, forges, and mills to produce everything from sails and ropes to weapons and cannons.

The complex includes several large docks, warehouses, and workshops, as well as two impressive gateways - the Porta Magna and the Porta della Carta. The Porta Magna is a massive gateway that was built in the 1460s and features a large statue of Saint Michael slaying the dragon, which symbolizes Venice's victory over its enemies. The Porta della Carta is a Renaissance-era gateway that leads to the Doge's Palace.

Today, the Arsenale is still used as a naval base by the Italian Navy, but parts of it have also been converted into exhibition spaces for the Venice Biennale, a prestigious international art festival that takes place every two years. Visitors can tour the site and see the historic shipyard and the Arsenalotti housing complex, which was built to house the Arsenale's workers.
