Verdala Palace is a historic palace located in the central part of Malta, on the outskirts of the town of Rabat. The palace was built in 1586 by the Grand Master of the Knights of Malta, Jean de la Cassière, as a hunting lodge. The palace was later expanded and renovated by successive Grand Masters and was used as a summer residence by the Governor of Malta during the British colonial era.
The palace is built in a unique style, blending elements of traditional Maltese architecture with Baroque and Renaissance styles. It is surrounded by a large garden that was designed in the 18th century and features a wide variety of plant species, including citrus trees, palm trees, and cacti.
Today, the palace is open to the public and serves as the official summer residence of the President of Malta. Visitors can tour the palace and gardens, which contain a number of historical artifacts and works of art. The palace is also used for state functions and events.
