The SSR Botanic Garden is a 37-hectare botanical garden located in the town of Pamplemousses, in the north of Mauritius. It is named after Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, the first Prime Minister of Mauritius.

Established in 1735, it is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Southern Hemisphere and is famous for its vast collection of indigenous and exotic plants. Visitors can explore various themed sections of the garden, including the spice garden, medicinal garden, palm tree collection, and water garden. The garden also houses a large collection of giant water lilies, known as Victoria amazonica.

One of the highlights of the garden is the Talipot palm, which is known for its enormous inflorescence, which can reach up to 8 meters high and contains millions of flowers. The Talipot palm is also known as the "death palm" because it dies after it flowers.

Other notable features of the garden include a small museum, a large pond filled with lotus flowers, and a picturesque bridge over a stream. Visitors can also see some of the native wildlife of Mauritius, such as giant tortoises and colorful birds.

The garden is open to the public every day of the year, and guided tours are available for those who want to learn more about the history and significance of this beautiful garden.
