The Sky Tower is an iconic landmark in Auckland, New Zealand, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city. The tower is 328 meters tall and is the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere. It was opened in 1997 and is located in the central business district of Auckland.
The tower has three observation levels where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Auckland and its surroundings. The main observation level is at a height of 220 meters, and visitors can enjoy 360-degree views of the city. There are also restaurants and cafes at the top of the tower, including the famous Sky Cafe, which is a revolving restaurant.
The Sky Tower also has an attraction called the SkyWalk, where visitors can walk around the outside of the tower at a height of 192 meters, while attached to a safety harness. For those who want a more extreme experience, the SkyJump allows visitors to jump off the tower while attached to a wire, and experience a freefall of 11 seconds before landing at the base of the tower.
The Sky Tower is also used for broadcasting and communication purposes, with its antennas and transmitters being used for television and radio broadcasting, as well as for cell phone and other communication technologies.
