Samtavisi Cathedral is a Georgian Orthodox cathedral located in the village of Samtavisi in the Kaspi Municipality of the Shida Kartli region, about 70 km west of Tbilisi. The cathedral is one of the earliest examples of Georgian ecclesiastical architecture, and it is considered a masterpiece of medieval Georgian building.

Samtavisi Cathedral was built in the 11th century, during the reign of King Bagrat IV of Georgia. The cathedral is cruciform in plan and has three apses. The façade is richly decorated with ornamental reliefs, including arches, crosses, and geometric shapes. The interior of the cathedral is equally impressive, with frescoes and murals that date back to the 11th and 12th centuries.

The cathedral's exterior features several intricate stone carvings, including the sculpture of King Bagrat IV and his queen, Borena. The bell tower, which dates back to the 13th century, stands adjacent to the main cathedral building.

Samtavisi Cathedral played an important role in the history of Georgia. It was the site of several important church councils, and it served as the burial place of several Georgian kings and queens. In the 17th century, the cathedral was renovated and a number of new frescoes were added. Today, it remains an important center of worship for the Georgian Orthodox Church and a popular tourist destination.
