Puerto Varas is a city in southern Chile located in the Los Lagos region. The city is situated on the shore of Llanquihue Lake, which is the second-largest lake in Chile, and is known for its stunning views of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes.

The city was founded by German colonists in the 19th century, and their influence is still visible in the city's architecture and culture. One of the city's main attractions is its German-style buildings, such as the Iglesia del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, which was built in the early 20th century.

In addition to its cultural attractions, Puerto Varas is also known for its outdoor activities. The city is a popular base for exploring the surrounding countryside, including the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, which is home to the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes, as well as the Petrohue Waterfalls and Lake Todos los Santos.

The city is also a popular destination for adventure sports, such as rafting, kayaking, and hiking. The nearby Llanquihue National Reserve and Alerce Andino National Park offer a range of hiking trails and opportunities for wildlife viewing.
