Plaza de Mayo is the main public square in the heart of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is located in the city center, surrounded by some of the most important buildings and landmarks of the Argentine capital, such as the Casa Rosada (Presidential Palace), the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires, and the Cabildo.

The square has a rich historical and cultural significance, as it was the site of many of the country's most important political events. It was the scene of the May Revolution of 1810, which led to the country's independence from Spain, as well as many other political protests, celebrations, and demonstrations throughout the years.

The square is named after the month of May (Mayo in Spanish), which is when the revolution took place. In the center of the square stands the Pirámide de Mayo, a white obelisk monument that was built in 1811 to commemorate the revolution.
