Patuxai, also known as the Victory Gate or the Gate of Triumph, is a monument located in the center of Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The monument was built between 1957 and 1968, funded by the government of the United States as a war monument to honor the Lao people who fought for independence from France. The design of Patuxai is influenced by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but the decorative motifs feature Lao art and architecture, such as the Kinnari, a mythological creature from Lao folklore.

The monument is made of concrete and features five towers, with the middle tower being the tallest at 45 meters. Visitors can climb to the top of the monument for a panoramic view of the city. Inside the towers, there are small shops selling souvenirs and handicrafts, as well as exhibitions showcasing the history of Laos.

Patuxai has become a symbol of Laos and is a popular tourist attraction, especially during the annual That Luang Festival. It is also a popular gathering place for locals, with many restaurants and cafes nearby. The monument has undergone renovations in recent years to restore its original beauty and maintain its structural integrity.
