Óbidos is a picturesque medieval town located in the central-western part of Portugal, about an hour's drive north of Lisbon. The town is enclosed by a well-preserved fortified wall and has narrow, winding streets lined with white houses adorned with colorful flowers. Óbidos is a popular destination for visitors to Portugal due to its historic charm and beauty.

The town's main attraction is the castle, which dates back to the 12th century and was later restored by King Dinis. Visitors can walk along the castle walls and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Other historic landmarks in Óbidos include the Igreja de Santa Maria, a 12th-century church with a stunning Gothic doorway, and the 18th-century Aqueduct, which was built to bring water to the town.

Óbidos is also known for its traditional cherry liqueur, Ginja de Óbidos, which is made with sour cherries and sugar and served in a small chocolate cup. Visitors can try this local specialty at one of the many cafes and bars in the town.
