Nikortsminda Cathedral is a Georgian Orthodox cathedral located in the Racha region of western Georgia, near the town of Ambrolauri. The cathedral was built in the early 11th century by King Bagrat III, and it served as an important religious and cultural center for the region for centuries.

The cathedral is famous for its remarkable architectural design and ornate decorations. It features three naves and a central dome, and its exterior is adorned with intricate carvings and reliefs. The interior of the cathedral is equally impressive, with brightly colored frescoes covering the walls and ceilings. The frescoes depict scenes from the life of Jesus Christ, as well as various saints and biblical figures.

One of the most striking features of the cathedral is its ornate stone portal, which is decorated with intricate carvings of animals, birds, and other mythical creatures. The portal is considered to be one of the finest examples of Georgian medieval architecture.

Today, Nikortsminda Cathedral remains an important religious site and a popular tourist attraction. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the most significant examples of medieval Georgian architecture.
