The Musée Ariana, also known as the Swiss Museum of Ceramics and Glass, is located in Geneva, Switzerland. The museum was founded in 1884 by Gustave Revilliod, who donated his collection of ceramics to the city of Geneva. Today, the museum's collections include more than 25,000 objects, including ceramics, glass, and stained glass windows from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The Musée Ariana is housed in a magnificent 19th-century building that was designed specifically to showcase Revilliod's collection. The museum's exhibitions are arranged thematically and chronologically, with galleries dedicated to the history of ceramics and glass, as well as galleries devoted to specific cultures and time periods.
Highlights of the museum's collection include a large collection of Chinese porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as Japanese porcelain from the Edo period. The museum also has an extensive collection of Swiss ceramics and glass, including works by the famous Swiss artist and designer, Marguerite Friedlaender-Wildenhain.
In addition to its permanent collections, the Musée Ariana hosts temporary exhibitions and offers a range of educational programs and events for visitors of all ages. The museum's on-site boutique offers a selection of ceramics and glassware for sale, as well as books and other souvenirs related to the museum's collections.
