Konark Sun Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the state of Odisha, India. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu Sun God, Surya, and is considered one of the finest examples of temple architecture in India. The temple was built in the 13th century CE by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty.

The temple complex is designed in the shape of a giant chariot, with 12 pairs of carved stone wheels pulled by horses. The temple is oriented towards the east, so that the first rays of the rising sun would illuminate the main sanctum. The temple is built entirely of stone, and is known for its intricate carvings and sculptures that depict scenes from Hindu mythology, as well as erotic imagery.

The temple was partially destroyed by the Mughal army in the 17th century, and much of it was buried under sand for centuries. In the 19th century, British archaeologists rediscovered the temple and began the process of excavation and restoration.
