Kaunos is an ancient city located in southwestern Turkey, near the modern town of Dalyan. The city was originally settled in the 10th century BC and was an important port in ancient times, serving as a trade center between the Greeks and Lycians. Kaunos was later conquered by the Persians, and eventually fell under the control of the Romans.

The city is home to a number of impressive archaeological sites, including a large theater that dates back to the 2nd century BC, a Roman bathhouse, and a number of tombs carved into the cliffs above the city. One of the most notable tombs is the Rock Tombs of Kaunos, a series of cliffside tombs that were built in the 4th century BC and feature elaborate facades and intricate carvings.

In addition to its archaeological sites, Kaunos is known for its natural beauty, with a number of scenic spots including the Dalyan River, the Iztuzu Beach, and the Kaunos Delta. The delta is a protected wetland area that is home to a variety of plant and animal species, including the rare loggerhead sea turtle.

Today, Kaunos is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the world who come to explore its ancient ruins and enjoy its natural beauty.
