Jongmyo is a Confucian shrine located in the city of Seoul, South Korea. It was built in the 14th century and served as the primary shrine for the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The shrine is dedicated to the memory of the ancestors of the Joseon Dynasty, and was used for regular ancestral rites and ceremonies. The main hall, called Jeongjeon, houses 19 tablets bearing the names of Joseon's kings and their wives. The tablets were placed in the hall to honor and remember the deceased ancestors.

Jongmyo consists of 19 buildings, including the main hall, subsidiary shrines, and administrative buildings. The complex is built in a rectangular shape and features a series of courtyards and gates. The buildings are constructed using traditional Korean architectural techniques and materials, and are noted for their simple yet elegant design.

Visitors to Jongmyo can explore the various buildings and learn about the history and significance of the shrine. Guided tours are available, and visitors are required to follow certain rules, such as removing their shoes before entering the buildings.
