The Jardin Exotique de Monaco is a botanical garden located in the Principality of Monaco, near the Fontvieille district. The garden is known for its rich collection of succulent and exotic plants from around the world.
The garden was created in 1933 by Prince Louis II of Monaco and was designed by the renowned landscape architect Jean-Charles Nicolas Forestier. The garden covers an area of around four hectares and is built on the side of a rocky cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
The Jardin Exotique is home to over 7,000 plant species, including cacti, agave, and aloes from various regions of the world, including Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. One of the highlights of the garden is the Giant Cauliflower Cactus, which can grow up to six meters tall and is over a hundred years old.
In addition to the plant collections, the Jardin Exotique also features several caves that were discovered in 1950 during the construction of a road. Visitors can explore the caves on a guided tour and admire the impressive stalactites and stalagmites formations.
