Hallgrimskirkja is a Lutheran church located in Reykjavik, Iceland. It is named after Hallgrímur Pétursson, an Icelandic poet and author of Hymns of the Passion. The church is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Iceland and is also one of the tallest structures in the country, standing at 74.5 meters (244 feet) tall.

Construction of the church began in 1945 and was completed in 1986. It was designed by Icelandic architect Guðjón Samúelsson, who drew inspiration from Iceland's unique landscape and geology. The church's design is said to resemble the basalt columns found in many parts of Iceland's natural environment.

Hallgrimskirkja is a popular tourist attraction and visitors can take an elevator to the top of the church's tower for a panoramic view of Reykjavik and its surroundings. The interior of the church is also notable for its pipe organ, which is one of the largest in Europe with over 5,000 pipes.

The church has become an important part of Icelandic culture and is used for a variety of events, including concerts and religious services. It is also a popular destination for tourists and has become an iconic symbol of Iceland.
