Granada is a city in western Nicaragua and is one of the oldest colonial cities in Central America. It was founded in 1524 by Spanish conquistador Francisco Hernández de Córdoba and has since been a hub for commerce and trade. Granada is known for its well-preserved colonial architecture, including its stunning Spanish colonial homes, churches, and monasteries, some of which date back to the 16th century.

The city is also home to numerous museums, galleries, and cultural centers, making it a hub for arts and culture in Nicaragua. One of the most popular attractions in Granada is the central square, known as Parque Central, which is surrounded by historic buildings, street vendors, and local cafes.

Granada is also a popular destination for tourists due to its proximity to Lake Nicaragua, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. Visitors can take a boat tour of the lake, go fishing, or simply relax on the shore and enjoy the stunning views of the nearby Mombacho Volcano.
