Genghis Khan Square is a public square located in the heart of Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. It was originally called Sükhbaatar Square and was renamed in honor of Genghis Khan, the founder and first emperor of the Mongol Empire.
The square is a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike, and is surrounded by many important buildings and landmarks, including the Mongolian Parliament House, the National Opera and Ballet Theater, and the Central Tower, the tallest building in Mongolia.
At the center of the square stands a large statue of Genghis Khan on horseback, which was erected in 2006 to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the establishment of the Mongol Empire. The statue is made of stainless steel and stands 40 meters tall, making it one of the tallest equestrian statues in the world.
Genghis Khan Square is also the site of many cultural and political events throughout the year, including concerts, festivals, and political demonstrations.
