Djemila, also known as Cuicul, is an ancient Roman city located in Algeria. The site is one of the best-preserved Roman ruins in North Africa and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.

The city was founded in the 1st century AD and served as a military garrison and trading center. The ruins contain well-preserved examples of Roman architecture, including a triumphal arch, basilica, forum, and public baths. One of the most impressive structures at Djemila is the 3,000-seat theater, which is still used for performances today.

Other notable features of the site include the Temple of Venus Genetrix, the House of the Bacchus, and the market square, which is surrounded by ancient columns and features a number of well-preserved mosaics.

The city was abandoned in the 6th century AD, but the ruins have been well-preserved due to the dry climate of the region. Today, Djemila is a popular tourist destination and attracts visitors from around the world who come to see the impressive Roman ruins and learn about the history of this ancient city.
