Cuesta del Obispo, also known as Bishop's Slope, is a mountain pass located in the province of Salta in northwestern Argentina. It is a popular tourist attraction due to its spectacular views and unique natural scenery.
The Cuesta del Obispo is a winding mountain road that connects the town of Chicoana to the Piedra del Molino pass, located at an altitude of 3,348 meters above sea level. The road has a length of 18 kilometers and passes through different types of vegetation zones such as the tropical forest, the cloud forest, and the high Andean vegetation.
The drive up the mountain offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the Lerma Valley and the surrounding mountains. The road also passes through the Los Cardones National Park, which is home to a unique ecosystem of cacti, including the giant cardon cactus.
At the top of the mountain pass is the Piedra del Molino, a natural rock formation that resembles a millstone. From this point, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding area, including the snow-capped peaks of the Andes.
