The Bahrain World Trade Center (BWTC) is a 240-meter tall skyscraper located in Manama, the capital city of Bahrain. The building was completed in 2008 and consists of two towers connected by three skybridges. It is a unique structure, with the world's first large-scale integration of wind turbines into a commercial building.
The two towers of the BWTC are 50 stories tall and provide over 100,000 square meters of office and retail space. The three skybridges are located at 43 meters, 66 meters, and 97 meters above ground level and house the wind turbines. The turbines are 29 meters in diameter and generate enough energy to provide 11-15% of the building's energy needs, equivalent to powering about 300 homes.
The BWTC is also known for its unique design and architecture, with a sleek and modern look that is complemented by its innovative use of renewable energy. It has won numerous awards for its design and sustainability features, including the 2008 CTBUH Innovation Award and the 2012 LEAF Sustainable Building of the Year Award.
In addition to its commercial use, the BWTC also features a shopping mall, restaurants, and a five-star hotel. It is a popular tourist destination in Bahrain and a symbol of the country's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the built environment.
