The Azure Window was a natural arch formation located on the coast of Gozo, the second-largest island in the Maltese archipelago. It was formed over thousands of years through the process of erosion, with the sea gradually wearing away the softer limestone rock to create a large hole in the cliff face. The arch was one of the most popular tourist attractions in Malta, with visitors coming from all over the world to see its unique beauty.
Unfortunately, the Azure Window collapsed into the sea on March 8th, 2017, due to a combination of natural erosion and severe storms that weakened the structure. Today, only the pillars of the arch remain visible above the waterline, serving as a reminder of the natural wonder that once stood there. Despite its loss, the Azure Window continues to be a symbol of the beauty and power of nature, and its memory lives on in the hearts of those who had the chance to witness it firsthand.
